roken blood vessels on the face are enlarged blood vessels that occur just beneath the surface of the skin. The resulting red, web-shaped appearance gives them their common name, spider veins.

Causes of broken blood vessels, also known as spider veins or telangiectasia, can vary and may include:

  1. Genetics: A family history of broken blood vessels can increase the likelihood of developing them due to inherited factors that affect blood vessel structure and elasticity.

  2. Sun Exposure: Prolonged or excessive sun exposure can weaken the skin's collagen and elastin fibers, leading to the dilation and rupture of small blood vessels near the skin's surface.

  3. Aging: As we age, the skin naturally becomes thinner and loses elasticity, making blood vessels more prone to damage and rupture.

  4. Hormonal Changes: Fluctuations in hormone levels, such as those occurring during pregnancy, menopause, or hormone replacement therapy, can contribute to the development of broken blood vessels.

  5. Rosacea: This chronic inflammatory skin condition can cause facial redness, flushing, and visible blood vessels due to the dilation of capillaries in the skin.

  6. Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as hypertension (high blood pressure), liver disease, or blood clotting disorders, may predispose individuals to broken blood vessels.

  7. Medications: Long-term use of certain medications, including corticosteroids and blood thinners, can weaken blood vessel walls and increase the risk of developing broken blood vessels.

Broken blood vessels typically occur in the superficial layers of the skin, including the epidermis and dermis. They often appear as small, red, purple, or blue lines or clusters on the skin's surface, particularly on the face, legs, or chest.

At YJC MED Spa, we offer advanced treatments to address broken blood vessels, including laser therapy and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. These non-invasive procedures target and coagulate the damaged blood vessels, causing them to gradually fade and disappear over time, restoring a smoother and more even skin tone. Our experienced professionals provide personalized consultations to determine the most suitable treatment plan for each individual's needs, ensuring safe and effective results.
