Scars

Scars are permanent marks or blemishes on the skin resulting from the natural healing process after injury or trauma, varying in appearance and texture depending on factors such as wound depth, size, and skin type.

Scars are lasting marks on the skin that develop as part of the body's healing process after injury, surgery, or trauma. There are several types of scars, including:

  1. Hypertrophic Scars: Raised and red scars that form at the site of injury, often due to an overproduction of collagen during the healing process. They typically remain within the boundaries of the original wound.

  2. Keloid Scars: Similar to hypertrophic scars but extend beyond the boundaries of the original injury site. Keloids are characterized by their thick, raised appearance and can be itchy or painful.

  3. Atrophic Scars: Depressed or sunken scars that result from the loss of underlying skin tissue, commonly seen in conditions like acne or chickenpox. Examples include ice pick scars, boxcar scars, and rolling scars.

  4. Contracture Scars: Tight, shiny scars that form when the skin is severely burned or injured. Contracture scars can restrict movement and may affect deeper layers of tissue, including muscles and nerves.

Scars primarily form in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, where collagen fibers are produced during the wound healing process.

At YJC MED Spa, we offer various treatments to address different types of scars and improve skin texture and appearance:

  1. Laser Therapy: Laser treatments can help reduce the appearance of scars by stimulating collagen production and promoting skin regeneration, leading to smoother and more even skin texture.

  2. Microneedling: This procedure involves creating tiny punctures in the skin with fine needles to stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of scars, including atrophic scars caused by acne.

  3. Chemical Peels: Chemical peels exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, promoting cell turnover and reducing the appearance of superficial scars and pigmentation.

  4. Dermal Fillers: Injectable fillers can be used to fill in depressed scars and improve their appearance temporarily.

Our experienced professionals at YJC MED Spa provide personalized consultations to assess each patient's unique scar type and recommend the most suitable treatment options to achieve smoother, healthier-looking skin.
