Hair Loss

Hair loss refers to the condition where individuals experience a reduction in hair volume or thinning of hair, often resulting in bald patches or a receding hairline.

Hair loss, also known as alopecia, encompasses various forms of hair thinning or balding that can occur on the scalp or other parts of the body. It can manifest in different patterns and severity levels, including:

  1. Androgenetic Alopecia: This is the most common form of hair loss, often referred to as male-pattern or female-pattern baldness. It typically presents as a gradual thinning of hair on the scalp, starting at the temples or crown in men and resulting in a receding hairline or bald patches. In women, it may cause overall thinning of the hair, especially at the crown.

  2. Alopecia Areata: This is an autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, leading to sudden hair loss in small, round patches on the scalp or other areas of the body. In severe cases, it can progress to total hair loss (alopecia totalis) or loss of all body hair (alopecia universalis).

  3. Telogen Effluvium: This type of hair loss occurs when a large number of hair follicles enter the resting phase (telogen) prematurely due to stress, illness, hormonal changes, or other factors. It results in diffuse hair shedding and thinning, typically occurring a few months after the triggering event.

  4. Traction Alopecia: This is hair loss caused by repetitive pulling or tension on the hair follicles, often due to tight hairstyles like braids, ponytails, or extensions. It can lead to hair breakage and thinning, particularly along the hairline or in areas where tension is applied.

Hair loss can affect different layers of the scalp, including the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue, depending on the underlying cause. Treatments for hair loss vary depending on the type and severity of the condition. At YJC MED Spa, we offer advanced solutions for hair restoration, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, scalp micropigmentation, and customized hair care regimens tailored to each individual's needs.
